Title I
What is Title I?
Title I is a federally funded program designated to provide instruction for children who need extra academic support. The goals of Title I are to help children succeed in the regular classroom and improve achievement in reading and math. The program provides children the opportunity to acquire the skills needed to meet the highest standards expected of all children. Power Ranch is currently receiving Title I dollars to help provide materials and support in the areas of reading and math. This year we plan to use Title I dollars to provide instructional aides in the classroom, tutoring, summer school and academic materials to both students and teachers.
How We Are Funded
Title I money is distributed to schools based on the school’s free and reduced lunch count. For every child who qualifies for "Free and Reduced Lunch," the state gives us dollars to ensure all students meet the high and challenging academic standards.

Parent Involvement Policy
Power Ranch Elementary will involve parents in regular, two-way meaningful communication addressing student achievement and ensuring:
- That parents play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning.
- That parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education.
- That parents are full partners in their child’s education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child.
In compliance with Section 1118(a) (2), of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), Power Ranch Elementary agrees to implement required statutory requirements to involve parents in the Title I program which the following practices have been established:
- The school convenes an annual meeting to inform parents of Title I students about Title I requirements and about the right of parents to be involved in the Title I program.
- The school offers a flexible number of meetings for Title I parents, such as meetings in the morning or evening.
- The school involves parents of Title I students in an organized, ongoing, and timely way, in the planning, review, and improvement of the school’s Title I programs and the Title I parental involvement policy.
- The school provides parents of Title I students with timely information about Title I programs.
- The school provides parents of Title I students with an explanation of the curriculum used at the school, the assessments used to measure student progress, and the proficiency levels students are expected to meet.
- If requested by parents of Title I students, the school provides opportunities for regular meetings that allow the parents to participate in decisions relating to the education of their children.
The Power Ranch Elementary School Parental Involvement Policy has been developed jointly with, and agreed on with, parents of children participating in Title I programs as evidenced by meeting minutes.
Parents Right to Know
We are pleased to notify you that in accordance with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, you have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s teacher. Specifically, you may request the following:
- Whether the teacher has met State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.
- Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria has been waived.
- The baccalaureate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree.
- Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications.
